Some popular role-playing games (RPGs) include “Dungeons and Dragons” (D&D), “Pathfinder,” “World of Darkness” (WoD), “Shadowrun,” and “GURPS.” D&D is considered the grandfather of modern RPGs and is known for its fantasy setting and use of dice to determine success or failure in various actions. Pathfinder is another fantasy RPG that is considered to be an “offshoot” of D&D. WoD is a series of interconnected RPGs that have a horror or supernatural theme. Shadow run is a science fiction RPG that combines fantasy elements with cyberpunk. GURPS is a generic RPG system that can be adapted to any setting or genre.
